Overcoming Adversity: Utilizing Play Therapy to Foster Strength& Resilience in African American Children

Dr. LaKaavia Taylor is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the counseling program at the University of North Texas, where she earned her Ph.D. in counseling with a specialization in play therapy. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Texas), National Certified Counselor,

and a Registered Play Therapist. Over the past nine years, Dr. Taylor has worked with children, adolescents, and families in various settings, including community agencies, schools, and university clinics. Her clinical expertise is multicultural counseling and play

therapy. She also has extensive experience working with children to address trauma, anxiety, socio-emotional development, racial identity, and behavioral concerns. Dr. Taylor has specialized training as a Certified Child-Centered Play Therapist Supervisor and a

Certified Child-Parent Relationship Therapist Supervisor. She has delivered presentations at numerous professional conferences and published research on play therapy. Through her current and past leadership positions in various counseling organizations, she engages in advocacy efforts for multicultural issues in counseling.

Payments are taken through EventBrite.  You will have the option to pay by check or invoice.

KSAPT will welcome most vendors and display setups from recognized affiliates. We encourage those interested to reach out to our Board Secretary (secretary@ksa4pt.org) to discuss the details.

APT Approved Provider #02-118

Approved Provider status is granted by the Association for Play Therapy; this allows registrants to earn credit at KSAPT programs towards their Registered Play Therapist or Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor credentials.

Virtual Information

In order to ensure the safety of all of our guests, KSAPT has decided to host the 2021 Confernence virtually.  All registerations will be processed through EventBrite.  Any Conference materials will be mailed to the shipping address you provide on your EventBrite registration form above.

CEs

CE’s will ONLY be given for time attended.  NO exceptions…sign in and sign out sheets will be available in the morning, before and after lunch, and at the end of the day.  All CE’s will reflect the time on the sign in and sign out sheets.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

1. If a participant withdraws from the conference 30 Calendar days or more before the 1st Day of the event, the participant will receive a full refund, minus a $20 processing fee. You can request a refund by reaching out to the Conference Chair (conference@ksa4pt.org).

 

2. If a participant withdraws from the Conference Event inside a 30 day window of the 1st Day of the Conference Event, the registrant will receive a partial refund (half of the original fee paid), minus a $20 processing fee.

 

3. Unless otherwise stated, no other refunds or reimbursements are allowed. No exceptions granted. Once the Annual Conference Event begins, no other reimbursements or refunds will be warranted.

 

** If a paid participant needs to withdraw from the Annual Conference or speaker series; they can elect to "donate" their paid registration to students on the KSA4PT scholarship list or another professional individual.
